Penthouse, bitch

Shut up, anonymous.

When I was babysitting last night I could hear quite clearly this godawful coverband playing at a nearby fete/mass orgy. I vote we follow their lead and cover:

- Mustang Sally

- The Time-Warp (Rocky Horror)

- I Saw Her Standing There (The Beatles)... this one might actually work

- Happy Together (the Turtles)

They were making a complete bollocks out of so many classic songs. I vote that we either a) don't suck that much; or b) stick to less well known songs as not to butcher them to hell. But mainly option a).

On the serious side, how 'bout I Can't Get No Satisfaction by the Stones? It's really easy, plus I think we could make it fun. Or 'Suffragette City' by Bowie, it might be a little more well known than Queen Bitch.

On the bus this morning I thought of some more potential covers:

- Rollercoaster - MGF
- Beetlebum/Coffe&TV - BLUR
- She Don't Use Jelly - FLAMING LIPS
- Dope Nose/Sweater Song - WEEZER
- Catch Me Up - GOMEZ
- Lithium - NIRVANA
- Goin' Out West - TOM WAITS
- Oh! Darling - BEATLES
- Creep - RADIOHEAD
- Undress for Success - MCLUSKY
- Mr. Brightside - KILLERS
- Sexx Laws - BECK

What do you think? They all seem pretty straight forward musically, but then again, I'm just a lazy bass guitarist.

i wish we didn't have to play any covers to be honest...but we have to, so...
they sound like good suggestions hannah bro though.
i hate thinking, "i wonder what songs people will know AND think are cool", we should just play whatever and if people don't know some of them then who cares, there loss.

So what are we going to about this goddamn party? My swot. vac. is really full on, and I'm going to need all the time I can get to write all my exam notes. EEEEK!

I'm free Sunday if it helps - I have to spend some of the day doing Crim study, but I can work around it (provided work hasn't screwed up my roster again).

I know it's probably our best song, but perhaps we should leave 'Flower' off the set list - we don't have enough mics and it's still a little too complicated for us to play it well. It sucks, but seeing that we usually dedicate a large chunk of our time to practicing that song, our time probably could be better spent nailing simple covers like White Stripes and the Strokes.

Also... Dave, do you have a Hotmail address? It'd be easier if we kept in touch through email, as no-one really checks this blog that frequently.

Scrap that bit about me being unavailable some of Sunday... I'm free all day, so if everyone else is as well, we should definitely put in a huge one.

SDF?
Is this some kind of swipe at our intellectual integrity disguised as a compliment? If so thank you.

And by any chance were you just watching Wilde on SBS?

Indeed.

SPF huh?

We could cover 'The Sunscreen Song'!

And our reunion album (to be released three decades after our mega-best selling debut 'FUNducational')can be called 'SPF 30+'.

How 'bout it, kids?
